The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Policy Committee, chaired by the Prime Minister of Thailand, has approved a proposal to develop the Eastern Economic Corridor of Digital (EECD) following a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
The EEC comprises three provinces in eastern Thailand - Chachoengsao, Chonburi and Rayong, designated for significant investment in physical and social infrastructure. The EECD involves the development of a digital park, essentially new industrial estate for digital business, envisaged as a hub of digital investment and innovation that will accommodate investors, incumbent manufacturers and digital startups.
The terms of reference for the EECD PPP project are expected to be completed by November or December this year, with the bidding process set to start in the first quarter of the next year.
