Ministry of Transport and Communications in Peru has resumed the earthworks for the development of Cusco - Chinchero International Airport. The earthworks started in April 2021 and expected to be finished by July 2021. The authority is planning to sign the contract for construction works by end of July 2021. The contract will involve supervision of the construction of the main work of the airport, which consists of a runway, a control tower, and a passenger terminal.
The new airport will have a 4 km long and 45 meters wide runway, a 4 km long taxiway and a passenger terminal covering 35 sq. km land with a capacity to handle 4.5 million.
