The City Government of Marseille has relaunched a tender for the development and operation of the Chanot conference and exhibition center. The 30-year concession is valued at EUR1.2 billion (US$1.38 billion).
The selected concessionaire will design, construct and finance new equipment and facilities at the Chanot center so that it includes approximately 40,000m2 of exhibition space and potentially also an event hall with around 6,000 seats. This would involve the demolition of many of the centre's existing structures, which were constructed in the 1950s and 1960s.
The concessionaire will also operate the public services, manage (on an administrative, technical and financial level) and maintain this equipment and facilities throughout the duration of the concession.
A tender for the concession was launched in July 2018 but did not result in an award. The deadline for the new tender is 28 February 2019.
