GMR Kakinada Gateway Port, a subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure, has started the construction of a greenfield commercial port near Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh, southeastern India.
GMR was awarded a concession contract to design, construct, finance, operate and transfer a commercial port in the Kakinada special economic zone in October 2018. The local government of Andhra Pradesh will lease 133 acres of seafront land to the company for the concession period.
