Globalvia, the Spanish infrastructure developer, has announced that it has appointed Daniel Quintero Martínez as new Railway Business Director, a task that he will combine with his current position of Corporate Operations Director.
In his new role, Daniel will report to the General Business Director, Luis Sánchez Salmerón, and he will join the Group's Management Committee.
Daniel graduated as a civil engineer at the University of Cantabria in 1991, completing his training at the London Business School and Spanish Instituto de Empresa. He worked at Cintra S.A. between 1997 and 2011, during which time he was managing director of Autopista del Sol C.E.S.A., a director of Cintra's subsidiaries in Chile and a junior director of Autopistas Españolas. Prior to that he was the technical director of Euroscut (Sociedade Concesionaria da Scut doAlgarve) in Portugal, after gaining five years' experience with various construction firms.
Globalvia was incorporated in 2007 by FCC and Bankia, each holding 50% of the company. At the end of 2011 Globalvia raised €400 million from pension funds PPGM (Netherlands) and OPTrust (Canada).
InfraPPP announced last Friday that Globalvia has closed the acquisition of a 30% stake in the companies that operate Barcelona's two tram lines, Tramvia Metropolità S.A. and Tramvia Metropolità del Besà²s S.A.
Globalvia operates several other rail assets in Spain such as Parla's tram (Madrid), Sanchinarro light rail (Madrid), Metro Barajas (Madrid metro system's line 8) and Transportes Ferroviarios de Madrid (Madrid metro system's line 9B).
