Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) has entered into a binding agreement to sell a 50.01% stake in Edinburgh Airport to VINCI Airports (VINCI) for GBP 1.27 billion (US$ 1.5 billion).
Upon completion of the transaction, GIP will retain management of the remaining 49.99% interest in Edinburgh Airport. GIP and VINCI will collaboratively lead investment initiatives and oversee the development of Edinburgh Airport, forging a long-term strategic partnership for its future growth. As Scotland's busiest airport and the sixth busiest in the United Kingdom, Edinburgh Airport serves over 150 destinations through 40 airlines. Concurrently, Crosswind Developments, which is advancing a significant business and residential project adjacent to the airport, will adopt the same ownership structure as the airport. The transaction's finalization is contingent upon customary conditions, including regulatory and competition approvals in relevant jurisdictions, with the expected completion slated for mid-2024.
