The Glasgow city council in Scotland, UK has extended the landfill operation and maintenance contract with FCC environment UK until December 2022 with provision for a further two expansion periods of up to 12 months. Meanwhile, the council is working with Viridor to increase the capacity of Glasgow Recycling and Renewable Energy Centre (GRREC).
The original landfill contract was due in December 2020, but the landfill ban in Scotland has been pushed back to 2025, facilitating the council to extend the contract.
