The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced that the I-285/Ga. 400 interchange P3 project will be developed on a design, build, and finance basis.

The developer will be responsible for all work necessary to implement the project including but not limited to design, construction, utility relocation, and partial right of way acquisition. GDOT will be responsible for operations, maintenance after final acceptance, and partial right of way within defined limits of the project.

The improvements include the construction of new flyover ramps, new collector-distributor lanes and other facilities to aid east-west travel on along I-285 and north-south travel along Ga. 400.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) estimates the design-build cost to be US$1.06 billion. In May the governor and GDOT board members approved the sale of $130 million in previously authorized bonds and the use of US$81.5 million in accrued state motor fuel funds to accelerate the project.

A few days back Gov. Nathan Deal announced that the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) had approved the Atlanta Transportation Improvement Plan, which includes funding for the project.

GDOT released on October 3rd a notice of Intent to Issue a Request for Qualifications. The request for qualifications (RFQ) is expected to be launched on November 3, 2014 and an industry informational meeting will be held on October 8th.

Statements of qualifications will be due on December 15th. and the shortlist will be announced on January 12, 2015.
