The Gary/Chicago International Airport (GCIA) in USA has terminated the public-private partnership (PPP) with Avports and its affiliate AFCO Gary after 8 years.

GCIA will take back the development, operation and maintenance of the airport facilities. Both sides affirmed that the separation was amicable, with Avports stating that they were willing to work with GCIA in the future.

The PPP involved redevelopment, expansion, operation and management of the airport, including the main runway extension and the construction of multiple new terminals and hangers. The operations and management contract was signed for a 10-year period with an option to renew for another 10 years three more times.
