The Government of UK has announced that almost GBP3 million (US$3.69 million) will be injected into the Hammersmith Bridge restoration project.
This comes ahead of further strengthening works to open it up to motorists and takes total government funding for the bridge’s restoration to nearly GBP7 million (US$8.62 million). Previous government funding of GBP4 million (US$4.92 million) went towards immediate mitigation works to the structure, which involved blast cleaning and inspections of its pedestals, helping ensure there were no long-term risks to its reopening.
Mott MacDonald will be responsible for the stabilization works for the bridge.
