The Ministry of Transportation and Public Works (MTOP) in cooperation with Contecon has doubled the free storage time for imported cargo at the Simón Bolívar Libertador Maritime Terminal located at Guayaquil Port in Ecuador.
The initiative aims to support the importing sector that mobilizes its cargo from this port area to be distributed to the different regions, in the face of road closures that the country has been facing for 17 days and complications in the logistics chain of the Ecuadorian production sector.
The measure applies to import cargo that has been unloaded since June 13 and is dispatched until July 3, 2022. In this way, containers that remain in the terminal for more than 14 days will receive double the benefit - 6 days off.
