Despite disapproval from opposition groups, the Deputies of the French National Assembly have adopted in new reading the Article 49 of the draft Pact, which provides outlines for the privatization of Aeroports de Paris (ADP).
On March 14, by majority votes of 42 against 17, the National Assembly has adopted Article 49 that provides the removal of the obligation of the State to hold the majority of ADP's capital or 50.63% stakes for about EUR9.5 billion (US$10.68 billion).
The new approved reading guarantees local employment and addresses the noise pollution which is part of the concerns of the member of the parliaments whose constituencies are close to airports. Other MPs also wanted to be able to consult the draft operating specifications to which the future concessionaire would be subject. The minister handling the project assured that members of the committee would have access to it and will have the concerns addressed properly as further development progresses.
