The Government of Bangladesh has shortlisted four firms to develop the 218 km Dhaka-Chattogram toll expressway project after the request of expression of interest tender ended on March 15.
The project is seen to boost the economic activities within the area and will serve as part of the Trans-Asian Highway network. The infrastructure will be implemented under the design, build, finance, operate, and maintain (DBFOT) of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme.
In August 2018, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has signed a US$10 million financing package for the project that covers 98% of the total estimated cost. The loan facilitates the Government in updating the feasibility study, preparing the detailed engineering documents, procurement and PPP-financing scheme for the Dhaka-Chittagong Expressway Project.
