The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has awarded the North Coast Corridor (NCC) Segment 4C project to the joint venture of Flatiron, Skanska and Stacy Witbeck in California, USA.

The US$72.5 million project signifies Flatiron's fourth partnership with Caltrans on the significant NCC enhancements initiative in the San Diego metropolitan area. The NCC encompasses a comprehensive array of transportation enhancements, environmental conservation efforts, and coastal access initiatives. These projects are geared towards enhancing quality of life, safeguarding the coastal environment, and bolstering the regional economy. Key components of the NCC Segment 4C project include:

  1. Transportation enhancements — Addition of new auxiliary lanes and redesign of Poinsettia Lane on-ramps and off-ramps to improve traffic flow efficiency and pedestrian safety.
  2. Environmental preservation — Rehabilitation of the Auga Hedionda freeway embankment slopes and upgrades to bridge barrier rails to promote ecological sustainability.
  3. Community welfare — Expansion of Chestnut Avenue under crossing, installation of sound barriers and retaining walls, and enhancement of curb ramps to enhance coastal access.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2026.
