Five companies submitted proposal for Greece motorway project

The Government of Greece through the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has received five bids from companies for the design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of the Kalamata - Rizomylos - Pylos - Methoni road project in southwest Peloponnese.

Among the five bidders, 4 bids were received from top technical concessionaires in Greece and 1 bid from a Spanish company. The bidders are

  • AVAX SA 
  • AKTOR Concessions SA
  • INTRAKAT Constructions SA
  • GEK TERNA
  • ACCIONA Concesiones and Mytilineos

The EUR312 million (US$350.61 million) road project will have a total length of 50 km and a 30-years concession period. The first 4 years of the construction phase and the remaining 26 years of operation and maintenance. The repayment of the project will be made through availability payments.

The selected private partner will take responsibility of:

  • the preparation of all the studies required for the construction of the project, on the basis of the studies provided by the contracting authority, the final design of the project to be carried out during the award procedure and its environmental permits;
  • construction of all work planned in the design studies of the project, with the aim of fully operational performance and readiness of the project;
  • financing the project;
  • maintenance, operation of the "Kalamata - Rizomilos - Pylos - Methoni" road section for the duration of the concession.
