Oman’s Ministry of Finance has qualified five companies to design, construct, finance, operate and maintain the Salalah-Thumriat Truck Road under public public-private partnership (PPP) agreement.
The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology is overseeing the development of a specialized 67-km road designed for heavy vehicles. Selected bidders for this project include VINCI Highways, STRABAG Motorway, China Communications Construction Company, Plenary Middle East (in collaboration with international firms), and Bouygues Travaux Public SAS (in collaboration with a local company). This project, estimated to cost between US$520 million and US$650 million, is aimed at supporting Oman's mineral industry and enhancing trade connections with neighboring Yemen through the Al Mazunah Free Zone.
