Sacyr Concessions has successfully secured EUR 58 million (US$ 63.67 million) in financing from Banco Estado de Chile (Chilean State Bank) for the Arica Airport (Chile) expansion work, managed by Sociedad Concesionaria Aeropuerto de Arica for a term of 15 years.
The funds will be allocated to the improvement of the current terminal and its expansion from 5,352 m2 to 11,592 m2. It is expected that this will allow the facility to cater for approximately 1,145,000 passengers annually.
The project involves the installation of five new departure gates (replacing the existing two gates), increasing the parking capacity from four to seven aircraft, and the expansion of vehicle access out of the airport and pedestrian access to the interior, thus facilitating movements around the site. Furthermore, new aeronautical facilities will be built, such as a control tower, an administrative building, a logistics building, rescue, and fire-fighting service building and its platform, an aeronautical electric substation, an ARO (air traffic services reporting office) building, access control points, and a ground fuel facility, among other work.
