Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has announced the financial close of the Rayis - Rabigh Independent Water Transmission Pipeline (IWTP).
The Rayis-Rabigh IWTP will connect desalination sources in the Makkah and Madinah regions, enabling bidirectional water transmission. Stretching 150 km, the pipeline will carry 500,000 m3/day of drinking water between Rayis in the Madinah region and Rabigh in the Makkah region.
The private sector will develop and operate it under a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) arrangement for 35 years from the anticipated Commercial Operation Date (Q2, 2026), with an estimated project cost of SAR 2.4 billion (US$ 639.5 million). The winning consortium for the project includes Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios, S.A., and Alkhorayef Water & Power Technologies.
