A consortium of WTE Wassertechnik GmbH and KCC Engineering Contracting Co (KCCEC) has achieved financial close for US$ 1.6 billion Umm Al Hayman wastewater project in Kuwait. The project includes development of 500,000 cubic metres a day (cm/d) wastewater treatment plant with an expandable capacity to 700,000 cubic metres a day.
The consortium has established Umm al-Hayman Company to act as SPV for the PPP project. Commercial Bank of Kuwait (CBK) and Al-Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK) along with four other banks have signed an agreement to provide US$ 650 million loan financing with 26 years repayment term to finance the construction and operation of the project.
