Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has announced the financial close for the Juranah Independent Strategic Water Reservoir (ISWR) project in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
This project has a strategic storage capacity of 2,000,000 cubic meters and an operational tank capacity of 500,000 cubic meters to enhance the potable water distribution system. The concession will last for 30 years, with the private sector investing SAR 1.5 billion (US$ 399.6 million). It will significantly improve the water supply chain, benefiting Makkah's residents, visitors, and Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. The consortium awarded the project includes Vision International Investment Company, Gulf Investment Corporation, and Taqa Company. TAQA holds a 35% share in the project company and a 50% stake in the O&M company.
The Juranah ISWR will follow the Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) model, with commercial operations set to begin in Q1 of 2027.
