The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has approved a US$4.2 billion project financing for the construction of a new international Terminal 6 in New York, USA.
JFK Millennium Partners (JMP) will develop the new international terminal in two phases, with the first gates opening in 2026 and expected to complete in 2028. The potential of creating more than 4,000 jobs and direct wages of $1.9 billion is also being aspected.
The Port Authority Board of Commissioners approved the new Terminal 6 construction in August 2021. The project will have a 1.2 million sq ft terminal, 10 new gates, including 9 wide-body gates, as well as light-filled check-in halls and arrival areas. More than 100,000 sq ft of restaurants, retail, airline lounges, and leisure areas will be available to customers. The redevelopment will ALSO feature improved airside aircraft circulation to lessen congestion and delays as well as crucial infrastructure enhancements of connected streets.
