The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has announced that the restoration and improvement works of the Port of Asunción in Paraguay are in their final stages with 80% progress.
Port of Asunción Reconversion private-public partnership (PPP) project works included installing air conditioning systems throughout the port building, placing electrical wiring, lighting, building storm drains, plastering, painting, plastering various approaches, building inclusive ramps and sub-tactile floors. The auditorium has first-class acoustic coverings and lighting, and the seats are the same as in the old Splendid Cinema in Asunción. The murals found outside the walls of the central hall were processed by professional restorers.
The contracting company ABH S.A. (Alberto Barrail e Hijos) became responsible for the improvement of the old port after winning an international tender with an investment of over PYG22.000 million (US$3 million).
