Contracting authority PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) in Indonesia last week has launched a Final Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Kualanamu International Airport PPP project located in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra.
The authority is looking for a private partner to develop and operate the Kualanamu Airport for 25 years. The private partner together with PT Angkasa Pura II will jointly own PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi, which manages the abovementioned airport. The private partner will own 49% of the managing company.
The preferred bidders will be announced on December 23, 2020.
The project will involve increasing airport capacity from 9 million passengers/year to 17 million passengers/year in Phase I, 30 million passengers/year in Phase II nd 42 million passengers/year in Phase III.
The development of Phase I will involve the capital expenditure of IDR 3 trillion (USD 202.5 million). 49% of these expenses will need to be covered by a private partner. The total expenditures up to Phase III will be IDR 12 trillion (USD 810 million).
Besides capacity increase, the project will involve the development of commercial buildings on 200 hectares, which include theme and logistics parks, factory outlets, trade complexes and maintenance repair & overhaul (MRO) facilities.
