The Government of South Korea through the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND) has delivered its final proposal for the development of a passenger commuter railway line in Paraguay to the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC). The proposal is now under review from the Ministry of Finance for technical and financial analysis.
The commuter railway line will connect Asunción and Ypacaraí, which will be integrated with the existing public transport system for increased accessibility. The railway line will be 43 km long including seven stations, 26 stops and a railway depot. The project has an estimated investment of US$500 million and will be financed by a long-term loan from South Korea.
