The Mersey Gateway Project has received final tenders from all three shortlisted bidders competing to deliver the project on behalf of Halton Borough Council.

The three shortlisted bidders are:

• Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics, Egis Projects
• Merseylink consortium: Macquarie Capital Group Limited, Bilfinger Berger Project Investments Limited, Vialia Sociedad Gestora de Concesiones de Infraestructuras S.L. and FCC Construcción S.A., and
• MGL consortium: Galliford Try Investments Limited, Hochtief PPP Solutions GmbH and Iridium Concesiones de Infraestructuras S.A.

The winning bidder, to be announced in June, will take on a 30-year contract to design, build, finance and operate a toll bridge over the River Mersey between Runcorn and Widnes.

The value of the construction phase of the project, including land, is estimated at £600 million. The total project costs/revenues over the next 30 years will be around £2 billion.
