Ferrovial has announced that it has been selected to build and operate a 250km electricity transmission line to the north of Santiago de Chile. The double circuit 220 kV line will connect three substations, one of which Ferrovial will build. The project represents an investment of US$125 million.

The transmission line will form part of Chile’s national power transmission system, strengthening the grid in order to support the numerous renewable energy generating facilities (wind and solar) being developed in the area.

Ferrovial will be in charge of construction work, to be completed within 48 months. The company has not disclosed the agreed operation period.
