According to sources, Spanish infrastructure group Ferrovial is considering selling its waste-management unit to streamline its business. The company could fetch up to €2.3 billion from the sale of the asset. No formal sale process is underway, and Ferrovial may still decide against pursuing a sale.
The business of waste collection and treatment, as well as park-maintenance services, could attract interest from other companies in the industry as well as private equity firms. Ferrovial is following the footsteps of ACS Actividades de Construccion y Servicios, a Spanish company which sold a waste-management unit to Chinese group for €1.4 billion.
