Falkirk to take ownership of USD366.77 million high school PPP projects in Scotland

Falkirk Council in Scotland has announced the possible ownership transfer of the five high schools developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) contract in Falkirk, Scotland, UK.

The concessionaire for the project Class 98 limited had completed the construction works for the schools in August 2000 and has been in charge of management, operation and maintenance of Bo'ness Academy, Braes High School, Graeme High School, Larbert High School and Old Carrongrange School.

The 25-year long concession contract for the schools is coming to an end on August 1, 2025 and the council is considering whether to take the ownership back or issue an extension of the current contract. The council has until August 1, 2022 to make the decision about the transfer of the asset. Approximately GBP300 million (US$366.77 million) has already been invested in schools.
