Acciona (project owner) has begun expansion and redevelopment works for the Musquiz Wastewater Treatment Plant PPP project in Biscay, Spain.
The project will replace the existing plant, which is in operation since 1988. The new plant will use a biological treatment system to treat the wastewater and it will have the capacity to process 4,600 m3 of wastewater per day. The scope of work involves the development of new pre-treatment, tertiary treatment with filtration and disinfection, stormwater treatment, sludge disposal, dehydration, and storage facility.
The estimated investment value for the project is EUR12.50 million (US$14.19 million). Acciona is part of the winning consortium for the project, Bilbao Bizkaia Water (CABB), and will also develop an odor treatment facility, treatment networks, auxiliary facilities, and install a control system as well as provide operation and maintenance of the plant. The project is expected to be completed by 2024.
