A U.S. firm, Everstrong Capital, has launched the KES 452 billion (US$ 3.5 billion) 440 Km Usahihi Expressway project to link Mombasa and Nairobi in Kenya.
Everstrong Capital has unveiled plans to raise financing for the Usahihi Expressway. The company will host a signing ceremony in Nairobi to mark the Transaction Advisory and Placement Services Agreement, a crucial milestone in the project’s fundraising efforts. The expressway is designed to cut travel time between Nairobi and Mombasa, strengthen regional transport links, and support economic development. It will mark the first large-scale U.S.-funded road initiative in Kenya.
Through a new fundraising framework, Kenyan investors—including private sector players and pension funds—will be able to invest in the Usahihi Expressway project. Everstrong Capital, established in 2015, targets transformative infrastructure across Africa, focusing on sectors like transport, energy, and communications. The U.S. government is expected to support the initiative, with American Development Finance Institutions set to co-lead the investment alongside Kenyan partners.
