Ethiopian Communications Authority has published a request for proposal (RFP) seeking a private partner for its second new full‐service telecommunications license.
The second license (License B) will introduce a third telecoms operator to compete alongside Ethio Telecom and the Global Partnership for Ethiopia. It will include Mobile Financial Services and additional spectrum allocation as well as revised pre‐qualification criteria to allow participation from a wide range of telecommunications operators. The project aims to liberate the Ethiopian telecommunications sector to promote greater private sector investment, drive digital transformation and deliver reliable and accessible communications for all Ethiopians.
