EQT has announced that EQT Infrastructure VI (EQT Value-Add Infrastructure) has agreed to acquire SK Shieldus Co Ltd (SK Shieldus) from SK Square, an affiliate of South Korea's second-largest conglomerate SK Group, and Macquarie Asset Management's Infrastructure business (Macquarie).
Following the closing of the deal, EQT Value-Add Infrastructure will own 68 % of SK Shieldus, while SK Square will remain a minority shareholder with 32 %. SK Shieldus is a physical security operator providing digital security infrastructure to 680,000 customer commercial sites and over 100 centralized monitoring and dispatch centers across South Korea. Following the acquisition, SK Shieldus will leverage EQT's physical and cybersecurity expertise to ensure digital security in South Korea. EQT Value-Add Infrastructure will decarbonise the company's vehicle fleet to increase electrification and phase out fossil fuels.
The deal will see a 5-10 % investment in EQT Infrastructure VI and will receive the usual regulatory approvals. EQT Value-Add Infrastructure was advised by Standard Chartered (financial), Kim & Chang (legal), PwC (financial, tax and technology) and BCG (commercial).
