National Central Cooling Company PJSC (Tabreed), 40%-owned by Engie, has been awarded a contract to build, own, operate and transfer a district cooling (DC) system in Amaravati – the future capital of Andhra Pradesh, India.
Tabreed has signed a 30-year concession with Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) for a total capacity of 20,000 refrigeration tons over an area of 1 km² for government buildings, including the State’s Assembly, High Court and the Secretariat.
The Amaravati district cooling project is not only Tabreed’s first success outside the Gulf region, but also the first DC project to be developed through a public-private partnership in India.
