El Salvador launches auction of cargo terminal project in San Salvador airport

The Government of El Salvador has launched the tender for the concession of a cargo terminal project at the international airport in San Salvador under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme. 

Promotor de Exportaciones e Inversiones de El Salvador (PROESA) has started selling the auction files for US$1500. The deadline for the submission of technical bids is on February 12, 2020. Proesa plans to announce the winner by March 12, 2020, which will be the deadline for the submission of the financial offers. 

In the first phase of the project, the private developer will have 15 years double the handling capacity of the cargo terminal to 52,000 tonnes per year

The second phase will last 20 years and will start the capacity will reach 46,000 tonnes per and year and until it reaches 73,000 tonnes per year.

Phase I requires US$11.8 million investment while the second phase needs up to US$43.8 million investment.
