Ferrovial, a global infrastructure operator, announced, through its subsidiary Webber, that it was awarded nine construction projects, totaling more than US$1 billion in Texas and Florida, USA.

The 8 projects that are:

  • IH-10 Reconstruction Colorado County, US$365 million:

This project will consist of the complete reconstruction of 12 miles of IH-10 between Houston and San Antonio. The proposed corridor will consist of three concrete main lanes and two asphalt frontage road lanes in each direction. Throughout the project, a total of 18 bridges will be completely replaced. Construction is expected to begin in January 2024 with estimated completion in 2027.

  • IH-10 Guadalupe County, US$245.2 million

This project will include a reconstruction and widening of approximately four miles of existing road, along with new bridges and concrete pavement. Other scopes of work include the construction of new frontage roads, a new direct traffic connector between SH 46 and IH-19, bridges built over the Union Pacific Railroad and side street reconstruction.

  • S. 59 San Jacinto, US$190 million

With a complete reconstruction of six miles along U.S. 59, this project will consist of the construction of three concrete main lanes, two concrete frontage road lanes in each direction, and the replacement of 23 bridges. Construction will begin in January 2024 with an end date in 2028.

  • S. 75 Collin County, US$58.5 million

This freeway operational improvement project of the traffic barrier, signage, illumination, and pavement markings will take place along 17 miles of roadway. Work will begin in January 2024.

  • Lubbock County Woodrow Road, US$37.9 million

The upcoming 2.5-mile project involves the transformation of an existing two-lane FM roadway into a four-lane road, complete with a dedicated left turn lane, spanning from Indiana Ave to U.S. Highway 87 in the southern part of Lubbock County. This particular road serves as a crucial corridor for the Lubbock Cooper Independent School District, and the reconstruction aims to enhance both traffic flow and safety within the district. Commencing in October 2023, the project is expected to conclude in 2025.

  • IH-27 Bridge Replacement, US$24.3 million

By demolishing and reconstructing three existing bridges on IH-27, this project will streamline the transportation of cargo in and around Lubbock, TX. Given the significance of this area as a cargo route, it is essential to keep two of the bridges operational to ensure the smooth flow of cargo. Consequently, each bridge will undergo demolition and reconstruction separately, one at a time.

  • S. 59 Wharton, US$7.1 million

The TxDOT Safety Improvement project involves the installation of a single-slope concrete barrier wall within the median to create a separation between northbound and southbound traffic. This barrier, known as the Hydraulically Efficient Barrier wall, will also ensure that proper drainage is maintained, even in the event of flooding in the 100-year floodplain section of the highway.

  • IH-635 Dallas County, US$4.2 million

Scheduled to commence in October and run for a duration of eight months, the barrier rail project encompasses the installation of 4.59 miles of fresh median barriers, aiming to enhance safety for the local community and commuters.
