Eight bidders prequalified for water PPP in Oman

Oman Power and Water Procurement Company SAOC (OPWP) has prequalified eight teams to develop a desalination plant with capacity to treat approximately 300,000m3/day, to be located at Al Ghubrah, a suburb of Muscat, the capital city.

The authority issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) in February this year. Of the eleven bids submitted, the following have been prequalified to respond to a Request for Proposals (RFP): 

  1. Cobra Instalaciones Y servicio S.A, FCC Aqualia, S.A., Majis Industrial Service SAOC.
  2. GS Inima Environment S.A
  3. International Company for Water and Power Projects (ACWA Power)
  4. International Power S.A.(IPSA)
  5. Marubeni Corporation
  6. Simbcorp Utilities Pte Ltd
  7. SUEZ International
  8. Sumitomo Corporation and Malakoff International Limited

OPWP is currently working to finalise the RFP which will be issued to the prequalified applicants upon receipt of the relevant approvals, expected in the next few months.
