French civil engineering group Eiffage has completed the acquisition of a 49.99% stake in the Aéroport Toulouse-Blagnac (ATB) company from the Chinese fund Casil Europe. ATB is the concession company until 2046 of France 5th largest airport with 9.6 million passengers in 2018.
The company has acquired the share for almost EUR500 million (US$560 million).
This acquisition fits in Eiffage strategy aimed at diversifying its concessions portfolio as well as lengthening its duration in the territories where it has a long-standing presence.
Casil Europe had originally acquired a stake in the Toulouse Blagnac Airport with an option to later acquire a 10% share of the company. However, the French state decided not to sell this minority share. This led to Casil announcing the intention to sell their 49,9% stake in 2018. The remaining 40% stake of the airport belongs to the various local authorities.
