The Government of Egypt is reportedly planning to issue new concessions for the second phase of the government programme. Under this programme, the PPP unit of Egypt will issue tenders for schools, dry port, housing projects and other infrastructure projects under the PPP model.
The government is planning to develop 1000 schools on PPP mode in several phases to reduce over-crowding in classrooms. The first phase for a 200-school development project will be launched in the first quarter of 2019. Around the same time, RFPs for a new dry port development and a housing development project will be launched.
A tender for the construction and operation of a new building for the Faculty of Commerce at Ain Shams University in Obour city, Qalyubia governorate in the area of 13,300 square meters will also be launched soon. This project's estimated cost is EGP400 million (US$22.2 million).
The contract for the design, financing, construction, equipment, operation, maintenance & utilize of Dry port project in 6th of October city is already in tendering process. Three international and national bids were received from consortia of Egypt’s Hassan Allam Construction and ports operator PSA Malaysia, Egypt’s Holding Company of Maritime & Land Transport with Dubai’s DP World and ElSweedy Electric, Schenker Egypt and 3A International Egypt.
