Edinburgh hospital operation delayed due to safety concerns

Ministry of Health in the Scottish government, UK has delayed the inauguration of the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh over safety concerns. The decision was made after final checks of the building revealed safety concerns over the ventilation system of the hospital, the operation has been delayed indefinitely a day before moving of patients and equipment.

The world-class Hospital for Children and Young People in Little France was set to begin operation on July 9, 2019. The safety checks revealed the ventilation system in the critical care department of the new hospital requires further work to meet national standards. The government was considering the partial opening of the hospital, but later the idea was dropped considering the risk. The government is emphasizing that safety is paramount.
