The government of Ecuador has given green light to the Guayaquil Southern Viaduct, to be structured under PPP scheme.
The Guayaquil Souther Viaduct will require an investment amounting to more than US$1,100 million for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a four-lane road with a length of 44.2 kilometers. This investment will include the spends during the 40-year concession contract.
The 44.2-kilometer project will be divided into four sections:
Approximately 2.6 million inhabitants of Guayaquil and Duran will benefit from the work.
This is one of several projects the new government may tender in 2018. As we reported in mid February the government of Ecuador awarded to local developer Verdú S.A. the concession contract for the Guayaquil-Salinas highway project on PPP scheme. The project involves the rehabilitation, maintenance and operationof 104.85 km of the Chongón-Santa Elena road system, which also includes the Progreso-General Villamil stretch of 27 km.
In July 2016, the Ecuadorian government awarded the Rio 7 highway PPP project in Huaquillas. Additionally, the tender process for the Santo Domingo - Quevedo – Jujan road PPP project is currently underway.
