English Cities Fund (ECF), a joint venture between Legal & General, Homes England and Muse has partnered with West Northamptonshire Council for the regeneration of Greyfriars in Northampton town centre.
The agreement supports planning, delivery, and funding for the largest brownfield regeneration in West Northamptonshire. Developed by West Northamptonshire Council and Studio Egret West, with Homes England's backing, the project aims to transform the area with new homes, including build-to-rent options, shops, cafés, and restaurants. Additionally, it envisions creating vibrant public spaces, a new outdoor amphitheater, and a lively neighborhood atmosphere.
The Greyfriars site, spanning over 14 acres, includes the former Greyfriars Bus Station (demolished in 2015), Mayorhold and Victoria Street Car Parks, Corn Exchange, Belgrave House, and East and West Island. The Corn Exchange could be an arts and culture hub, while Belgrave House presents opportunities for a workplace and business incubator. With the site now valued at GBP 400 million (US$ 520 million), ECF seeks to collaborate with partners to drive transformative regeneration.
