EBL to sell telecommunications divisions to Sunrise LLC

EBL has agreed to sell its telecommunications divisions to Sunrise LLC, a subsidiary of Liberty Global. 

EBL (Genossenschaft Elektra Baselland), headquartered in Liestal, Switzerland, is an energy distribution company that is expanding its activities to include renewable energy/heat generation and distribution, therefore the company decided to sell its telecommunications divisions. The purpose of the sale is to secure supplies and decarbonize the energy system.

Sunrise LLC is a private telecommunications company based in Switzerland. The company is providing mobile, Internet, TV and landline services to residential and business customers, with around 3.11 million mobile, 1.23 million broadband and 1.28 million TV customers (RGU) as of the end of Q2 2022.

Details of the sale were not disclosed. The business is scheduled to be transferred in January 2023.
