The Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor project providing railway line between Sonnagar in Bihar to Dankuni in West Bengal is likely to get World Bank funding.
The estimated total cost fo the project is INR 150,000 million (US$ 1962 million). The project is proposed to be developed on public-private partnership mode and consists of two phases: Dankuni - Gomoh Phase-I 282.22 Km stretch and Gomoh to Sonnagar Phase-II 256.58 Km stretch.
The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation (DFCCIL) official said: "The Railway Board is finalising the PPP model and a RFQ (request for qualification) is likely to be out soon. We have already acquired 89 per cent of the land required for this stretch." The official added the World Bank is likely to finance the project, even if a private player shows interest in the tendering stage. The Dankuni to Gomoh phase is likely to cost INR 75 billion (USD 992 million).
