The Plenary Group has started the early works on the Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre (GCEC) in Geelong City, Victoria, Australia.
The project is currently in its early works stage, focusing on the superstructure. It will provide opportunities for trainees and apprentices on the job. 28 trainees and apprentices are already participating in the project. The total number of trainees and apprentices will reach 44 as the project progresses. This program is a collaborative effort between the Victorian Government, the Australian Government, the City of Greater Geelong, and Plenary Conventions (investors behind the project).
The Victorian Government is contributing AU$ 423 million (US$ 279 million) towards the Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre precinct, with the Australian Government contributing AU$ 30 million (US$ 19.7 million) and the City of Greater Geelong AU$ 3 million (US$ 2 million). The precinct partnership also includes an initial AU$ 120 million (US$ 79 million) investment from Plenary Conventions to secure what will be Geelong’s largest hotel, with a further AU$ 130 million (US$ 85 million) earmarked to create a mixed-use development inside the precinct down the track.
