The East African Community (EAC) has secured US$1.40 million from African Development Bank (AfDB) for a feasibility study of the 256 km Northern Transport Corridor linking Kenya and Uganda.
The proposed scope of work consists of the 104 km of the present road's 2-lane single carriageway upgraded to a 2-lane double carriageway while being brought up to bitumen standards, 11km of link road construction between Kisian and Kisumu bypass and 127 km between Jinja and Malaba, which will be connected to a 20 km stretch that will run along the border to Busia.
