The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) in the USA has published a draft environmental impact study (EIS) for the I-495 & I-270 road improvements concession. The draft study will be sent to seek commission concurrence on proposed Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) comments. The deadline for public comment on the EIS is November 15, 2021.
The concession aims to develop a travel demand management solution that addresses congestion, improves trip reliability on I-495 and I-270, and enhances existing and planned multimodal mobility and connectivity. Under the managed lanes EIS study, the planning commision has proposed a new Alternative 9. This alternative does not include expansion work on the northside of the Beltway and reduces the project scope.
