The Government of Dorchester County has announced a public-private partnership with both Home Telecom and Palmetto Rural Telephone Cooperative for the expansion of the broadband network across the western part of the county in the USA.
The 325 miles project intends to expand high-speed internet access to the western part of the county over the next three years. It will benefit more than 4,100 homes that currently do not have access to adequate high-speed internet service.
The project has an estimated investment of US$17.1 million which will be subsidized through matching funds provided by Home Telecom and PRTC along with a maximum grant of US$8.5 million from the American Rescue Plan Act.
