DIF Capital Partners has announced the acquisition of ruhrfibre in Germany.
The transaction includes the buildout of a large-scale fiber network of more than 1,000 km in Essen, Germany, targeting around 150,000 households. Large-scale deployment of fiber from ruhrfibre with DIF through its DIF fund CIF III will accelerate Essen’s development into a smart city, where currently only 5% of households have a fiber connection. ruhrfibre will be responsible for the development, construction and operation of an urban fiber-to-the-home network for private households, public and business customers to high-speed internet.
The acquisition will be completed after the antitrust approval.
