The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has said that they are on track to complete the second phase of the Bagong Tondo Sports Complex Project in Manila, Philippines.
Phase 2 of the project is currently 38% finished. This phase involves constructing superstructures such as columns, beams, and suspended slabs per floor. The contract, amounting to PHP133 million (USD 2.3 million), also includes electrical works, fire protection, plumbing and sewer works, finishing works, and the installation of lighting fixtures and air-conditioning. Phase 1 of the project, costing PHP82.02 million (USD 1.4 million), was completed in 2021 and focused on the construction of the foundation and substructures, including footing, pile cap, and micro piles. An additional PHP10 million (USD 179,999) is required to complete the entire Tondo Sports Complex, allocated under Phase 3 for site development.
Once finished, the sports complex, with a total floor area of 3,360 square meters, will feature a gym, a multi-purpose open space, an indoor basketball court, and a conference room.
