The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan has selected ACWA Power for the development and construction of a 100 MW wind farm located in the Karakalpakstan region.
The company has placed the lower tariff of US$0.025695 per kWh. Other competitors for the final round were Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC (Masdar), with a bid of US$0.026550/kWh, and Voltalia SA which offered US$0.03279/kWh. The tender was supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The project is expected to generate up to 350 million kWh of energy per year, offsetting about 160,000 tonnes of carbon emission annually.
